Description

Guidelines & Application Process

Cameron LNG continues our support of higher education by offering a competitive scholarship program to Cameron Parish students who are high school or secondary school seniors. We award scholarships to select recipients who will continue their education in a 2- or 4-year program at a trade, technical, or community college or four-year college or university.

Eligibility:

Students must:

  • be graduating from high school/secondary school.
  • be in their final year at the time of application.
  • demonstrate potential for applicable college-level coursework.
  • be planning to enter an accredited post-secondary education program, part- or full-time, for the entire academic year immediately following graduation.
Awards and Selection Process

How we select our winners

Cameron LNG’s Community Advisory Committee (CAC) comprises local community members and Cameron LNG employees. All scholarship finalists must interview with CAC members who will evaluate their applications and select the finalists. Finalists receive options for scheduling interviews in early April.

Intended use

Scholarship funds are designated for undergraduate-level college education expenses or at an accredited vocational/technical school (computer programming, auto mechanics, welding, pipe-fitting, etc.). Approved uses include tuition and fees, room and board, books, and required equipment.

Award payment

Upon receipt of a copy of the recipient’s fall class schedule and fee receipt, the award will be mailed to the student’s permanent home address in early September.

Student application process:

Carefully complete the online application and ensure you list all pertinent facts relating to your personal and academic achievements. Write an essay between 300 and 500 words using the following: If you could change one moment in your life, would you do so? Why or why not? If so, what moment would you change and why?

Two applicant appraisals are required: one from a counselor, advisor, instructor, or coach and one from someone in the community who is not a relative (i.e., work supervisor, church leader, or mentor). You'll need to complete this required section in the format provided. If your appraisals are incomplete or missing, we won't be able to accept your application.

Cameron LNG will only evaluate and consider for an award complete applications submitted by 11:59 pm on March 1, 2024.

Contact ExternalRelations@CameronLNG.com with questions regarding the application process.

Cameron LNG will notify award recipients the week of April 22, 2024.
